A communication modality I use daily is my facetime app on my phone, which is just a basic video and audio chat for people who have an iPhone. I use this for many things like family, friends, or even work but I use it mainly for talking to family and friends. With this certain app, you can draw little pictures as you are video chatting and add little emojis to it too. I use it when trying to keep up with my family and friends and my daughter who is a year old can see family that’s far away.

When someone calls I tend to wonder why they are calling, you know, I’m thinking in my head, “oh my gosh I hope everything is alright.” Then sometimes I wait for them to tell me the purpose of them contacting me. Then there are times I jump to conclusions and think that person is in trouble or is hurt. For example, my grandmother has set the rule that no one is to call her before 10 am. So. If my grandmother was to call me sometime before 10 am I would then jump to any conclusions. That’s the only time I believe that I would use context to guess the purpose of someone calling me.

Another rhetorical situation would be texting but, I prefer to call someone. The reason I like to call is that I have a hard time getting all of my words into one paragraph. Or when I want to ask a question I prefer not to wait I prefer to right there. For me talking to someone over the phone is easier and also because I am a stay-at-home mom for me it is my interaction with other people I like to hear a person's voice. While with text I can hear them or I can't see them I prefer that little human interaction and most people do. “All human interactions are an opportunities to either learn or teach.”(M.Scott Peck)
